CMSA Report Card
- All day used to work on CMSA/Report Card macro.
- Got a complete list of files from KE and wrote a small AWK script to rename them to 0810.csv.
- Processed several cards until I had one of the cards bomb-out that have bombed-out befor.
- The plan is the process some of these cards again over the week-end before next week when MC runs the cards for Oct.
- I am pretty much out of something to do in terms of Java w/ RK.
- It is fairly evident that VC and GK don't like my presence. It is amazing how manipulative people and companies have become.

Xythos project / PSreports client
- As it turns out I had nothing to do for all my effort in getting psreports client functioning other than this is the only way to test the Xythos Proxy project code.
- Spent the rest of the day in an effort to get James Lorenzens' (delicious/geezenslaw) maven/junit/resources snippet to work.
- I replied comment to his original blog to see if he could come up with any ideas as to why url.getFile() does not work.

Xythos project: servlet re-worked by RK and new psreports bugs
- This morning I received an email from RK to co the complete xythosproxy project.
- RK pretty much overhauled the entire Servlet with a lot of complaints added about how I did not do what was discussed.
- The real issue is I need to note better what he says in the future. But the truth of the matter is he is case building and I may not get to do a better job of note-taking in the future.
- At the end-of-the-day I am one Datasource def away from running the ReportsClient app in an effort to resolve another Bugzilla RK put in about the ReportDelivery outputing multiple lines. I'm not sure what this means yet but I suspect I should know by tomorrow.
- RK received another bugzilla today from AF about the qcreports.
CNN.COM Lou Dobb's Journal
The H1-B visa fraud and corruption unveiled (like duh!)
- Today I watched another one of these infuriating Lou Dobb's Journal lambastings of the fraud and corruption committed by Corporate America and their abuse of the H1-B visa program.
- This has hit me hard for the last 10+ years and nothing has been done about it by the U.S. government. Why?: Bill Gates has too much money, too much power and too much special interest influence.
- Houston, TX is a veritable who's-who for H1-B visa allotments. All of the major enterprise level business software developments in and by Houston companies can be counted on two hands: ABS, JP Morgan, EGL Logistics, Nabors Well Services (Offshore Bermuda), Can-rig (Canadian) and Epoch-Well Services (looks like downtown Mumbai) and the list goes on. If you could gain acces to anyone of the companies named above you would swear your had walked into Punjab.
- When is the American High-Tech worker going to wake up? I suspect never because most of the AMERICAN workers are in management or a lead role and don't care because all of the software development is outsourced to these Indian companies and their jobs are protected as long as the Indian companies continue to put out.

Xythos Project RK: bugzilla
- Need to re-edit with journal.txt content. RK bugzillas both new and re-opened were IMHO resolved today. In any case I did not hear anything from RK after annoucing that all changes were committed around noon.
- Among the significant changes: removed try/catch and throws from createDirectoryStructure(). Added Throwable to the try/catch in the uploadFileToXythos() and assigne the Throwable to a new instance of: XythosProxyResponse(Throwable t) constructor.
- Some progress with the getStaticMethod() in the TestXythosProxyResponse class for the JUnit testing.

Xythos project RK reopens bugzillas
- RK reopened a bugzilla I closed on Fri.
- I will have to re-edit this to supply the bugzilla numbers:
- Mainly, re-factored the loadProperites() method to reduce the size and some of the processing logic. Ditto with all the private methods in XythosProxySevlet.
- In particular: processRequest() - I put most or all of the code for this method inside a try/catch.
- createDirectoryStructure() now returns void and all of the code is inside a large try/catch that has several Exceptions to be caught.
- Most of the list of TO-DO's from RK were accomplished. In particular the loadProperties() is much better now.

Xythos Project testcases
- Worked on XythosProxyTest all day
- Created 4 java private access circumventing methods: getPrivateMethod(), getPrivateStaticMethod(), etc. for use with: TestCase.
- Unable to run a test for: lookupMimeType(). The method is static and not able to supply the variable args list.
- It was very quiet here today: BM and VC took off early. I had the distinct feeling that I should have talked to VC about the special dev meeting in Salado.

Xythos project bugzillas resolved
- Systems meeting about CV's notes on the budget/money saving initiatives sought by the FAFDS: CV has the door open to anyone that wants to discuss individual points of the meeting.
- committed xythos project changes per REV: 24799 resolving bugzilla: 15871.
- Catching up on remaining bugzillas resolved but not input to Bugzilla itself.
Work Journal
Xythos project: bugzilla 15871
- Fairly completed bugzilla: 15871 w/ an email to RK that I should commit the source in the morning.
- The command-line was fixed by using the windows environment: set xythosproxy.tempdir=TEMP.
- The directory deletion was fixed by retaining the absolutepath of the temp files written and using getParentPath() to remove the filename leaving only the directory tree.
- I accepted a Systems dept. meeting on ways to reduce costs.
Work Journal
Xythos project (bugzillas 15871 etc.)
- Completed code for loadProperties() and the creation of xythosproxy.tempdir storage locations.
- The xythosproxy.tempdir storage locations are not working. The TEMP directory is being created when it should not be and none of the TEMP+System.nanotime() directories are being deleted.
- RK: at COB I checked-in (SVN) all code and sent an email to RK wiht caveats about the code.
Work Journal
Xythos project
- The home servers were not available and so the journal will not be up-to-snuff.
- RK: with the assignment of several bugzillas I did not get a jump start today.
- RK: putting in a lot of changes to XythosProxyServlet namely: the dynamic creation of xythosproxy.tempdir storage locations with multilple like named files.
- Also needed: the creation of a properties method to fetch xythosproxy.tempdir from xythosproxy.properties.
- I have seen GK several times over the past few days and in the gym with a very sour disposition displayed on his countenance.
Dean Brown
Dean's 22nd Birthday that he will never see
- Today is Dean's 22nd birthday. I have updated his memorial website (www.deanbrown.name).
- I have eulogized his birthday here and on Twitter.
- Yesterday: Karl and I went and bought a very nice large pedestal pot with 12 Dianthus flowers. I could not get anything in yellow so the Dianthus red will have to do until Spring.
- I am hoping the Dianthus will live up to their claim for winter time hardiness.
- This is the first birthday since Dean's drug-associates, drug-dealers and the drugs took Dean away from us.
- We are getting a new president soon and I would like to think the new pres would step-up the war-on-drugs but I 'm not holding my breath.
- It really sucks how many billions the U.S. government gives outright to foreign governments and the patriots of these foreign government that hate the U.S. And, at the same time the patriots of these foreign governments that hate the U.S. are pumping billions of dollars in drugs-that-kill into the U.S.!

Xythos project bugzillas
- RK replied today that I must revert the changes made to: 15850 (createDirectoryStructure). The method: createDirectoryStructure should just throw the XythosException and not return the XythosProxyResponse object.
- RK also replied to create 3 new bugzillas: 15871, 15872, 15874
- I spoke briefly with CP about 15874 and came away with a fairly good idea for the resolution.

Xythos project bugzillas: 15825, 15826, 15850
- Exchanged a flurry of emails today w/ RK: bugzillas 15825, 15826 and 15850.
- I also fixed the issue w/ the xythos.properties file: simply copy the stupid file to the servlet container context path. In this case this means fcservicing92-online directory.
- I have a leg up on: 15850. The method: createDirectoryStructure now returns a XythosProxyResponse object. And, it is test OK.
- I also have a leg up on the 15825 bug. I have the tempdir now working dynamically as an input for the user.
- 15826 will be more work as I need the psreports client working. I fixed RKs pom.xml but there are in the same package issues not as yet fixed such as jobScheduler object.

CMSA/Report Cards - Xythos Bugzillas
- This morning I discovered my PC had been rebooted and the Access 2007 was replaced by Access 2000. As a consequence the updateCRC no longer runs correctly. I spoke to KE about this situation.
- Right around the noon hour RK sent a couple of Bugzillas (maybe 3) to fix some issues with the TEMPDIR on the server-side.
- I started on the fix for the the TEMPDIR but it may prove difficult. I am leaning toward the reflection gadgetry to fix the Servlet.

BEA/WL install and Xythos revelations
- Worked all done on installing a new BEA/WL instance including SWAN.
- Struggled with the deployment of xythosadmin all day until I realized the problem is the xythos.properties file sucks.
- At the end of the day I had a fairly good conversation with KE. She is pretty much up-to-date on the CMSA/Report Card issues. KE also stated that the Jetspeed project is on the back burner.
- It appears I will work a few more days on CMSA and then I will have to find a newe project. The outlook is bleak.

CMSA/Report Cards
-
I have worked through all of the CMSA/Report Card workbooks. My findings as reported in the dev. meeting today are as follows: 1. Two workbooks have one of more tabs (worksheets) that are not completing without error: convansys.xls and aonlending.xls. 2. The aonlending.xls may be resolvable as the failure point is there is no existing worksheet in which the macro can write data and formulas. Therefore it fails. The other is more problematic as it is a NON-YTD workbook with a dozen worksheets all similar to each other but only one worksheet fails.
-
In an exchange of emails with GS @ xthos I have broken WL on both boxes. GS has some what appears to be good advice but I have to re-install WL on the Linux box.
-
Attempts to re-install WL fail for some old reasons: domain already exists.

CMSA/Report Cards
-
Met w/ MC this morning and we discussed some of the issues plaguing the Report Cards macro.
-
Talked to KE and related some of the discussion between me and MC and some of my findings on the RC project.
-
Processed the AonLending file with all CSV inputs working except: HILB and MINI. KE sent me a reply email on all of the invalid Company Card numbers in the RTall.bat file.
-
Spent the rest of the day trying to find the reason why Travelers tab in the Convansys.xml works and not the National Lloyds Insurance file.

Reply email to RK thus far is unresponsive.
-
Created two (dot).csv files using SWAN and the special code list acquired from KE. Definitely have narrowed some of the issues w/ the CMSA Report Cards to the 3 newly created RCs.
-
Successfully processed the RCs: bancinsure, TFIA and USAA.
-
Created more (dot).csv files for EDS: EDLM and EDAO. EDLM succeeds where EDLM fails.

Xythos CMSA/RCs
-
Replied to both RK emails about the XythosProxyResponse class
-
Assigned to and resolved the buzilla: 15760.
-
In response to the RK email about creating error cases I created a XythosProxyResponseTest class (junit) and one test method: testResponse(). I commited the 15760 bug fix code but not the junit test case code.

CMSA/Report Cards RK/XythosProxy
- Had to fix the screen resolution on my Linux box.
- Met w/ KE to discuss some of the business model behind the Report Card macro.
- Talked to MC as a follow-up to the meeting w/ KE.
- Spent time trying to create the business model for updateCRC macro. And, with meeting w/ KE to get some insight to this really bad program.
- RK: shows me that the XythosProxyResponse is returning null. I cannot test because the xythosadmin.war will not run. I am getting hammered at the 11th hour with changes that should have been seen in a code review.
- After hours RK replied with two more emails and a bugzilla.

CMSA/Report Cards/Dev. meeting
· Sent an email to Michelle to get a copy of the bancinsure.csv 0809 file.
· Deployed xythosadmin on the 10.3.66.81 VM deployed by DR. I got the same WFS error condition as deployed locally when I invoke the xythosadmin web page.
· The banc0809.csv got processed as input to the bancinsure.xls file. A new Sep-08 record was created in the YTD worksheet. I emailed MC with the bancinsure.xls result of the processing with a question: is this correct?
· Received two additional (dot).csv files from MC: TFIA0809 and USAF0809. Processed TFIA0809.CSV but it failed to close.
· Googling: 1004+vba+file+close gives a lot hints that the culprit could be the fact that variables are used for the Excel filename causing it to fail. 1004 is a fairly ubiquitous MS/VBA error message.

Xythos/PSReports/ReportClient/CMSA
- Successfully ran ReportClient by installing a new BEA3 on the Linux box.
- Discovered why the bancinsure.xls file fails: it will not close the file after processing and therefore the newly composed data sheet does not get written to disk.

First tennis match and a win!
- I got an emal reply from Punkin today and he told me all about his first tennis match today and how he won his first doubles.
- Sad: I did not get to see this match!
- Soon i will have to annouce that I want to work-from-home 2-days/week

PSreports/ReportsDelivery/Xythos project delivered
- Spent most of the day trying to get the pjernigan user to authenticate against the WL servicing instance so I could test the PSreports edits for XythosProxy and XythosProxyResponse. I failed at this endeavor.
- RK close to COB annouced that the file uploading went OK. RK showed me some changes he made and that he would be putting in some Bugzillas to the effect.

Xythos/PSReports/ReportDelivery project
- I pretty much finished the Xythos/PSReports/ReportsDelivery project bugzillas and source edits as outlined in RKs bugzillas.
- Unfortunately, I spent most the day trying to get the ReportsClient to run against the edits of the client.xml but to no avail.
- RK has stated (again) that FIC has no issues with using their system and I am the only one with an issue getting the development environment to work correctly. RK has stated that we will discuss my short comings tomorrow in AM.
- It appears from all angles to be a continuation of the rail-road that was started sometime after May 20 around the time I attended my last HIT meeting.
- Today has EL last day.
