Dean's Memorial Day

Today was 2 years since Dean died on the futon in the game room from a deadly cocktail of prescription pharmaceuticals. May all of the big pharmaceutical companies burn in Hell.

I placed new flowers in Dean's vase and pointed them toward his Mom lying beside him. I have decided to buy some Silk flowers for Mom's ground.

There is only dirt on Mom's ground but I raked the dirt nice and even and raked off Dean's grass too. After 2 years his grass still does not look very good. Annoyingly, there are moles in the Klein churchyard as well.

I tried to recite the Lord's Prayer but I only butchered what I did remember. I vow to memorize the 23rd psalm.

Karl has been very ill for some day's now and I did not expect him to go with me to Klein. I just hope he will go on his own over the Memorial Day weekend.

In the final analysis I stood at both Mom's and Dean's feet in disbelief and wonderment as to how I arrived at a situation with only one Son, my youngest. Karl will graduate in 2 days on the 29th and I am not at all sure about his future. I can only keep plugging away at the issues that surround us now: bills-to-pay and how to attain some student financial aid and utlimately how to get Karl a job.

The above bullets is why I do more praying these days than final analysis thinking.

Mother's Day

Today was the first Mother's Day without Helen. And, it was the first Mother's Day for Karl without his Mom.

Helen does not have a marker yet and so all we can do is put some flowers in the ground with a plastic sleeve to hold the water.

I went to Klein today for only 5 minutes because I had a broccoli casserole in the oven but her flowers still had water and Dean's flower vase still had water.

A very sad sight to see both Mother and Son lying next to each other in the cold-cold ground.

I talked to both of them and told them how Karl was doing at church and school. I got a letter from his school announing an awards ceremony May 21 but I don't know if Karl is going or if he even has a reason to go the awards ceremony.

Helen's Service

Initially I will not publish this blog until later today. As I cannot predict my day with 100% accuracy I will leave the finishing of this blog to our Lord as all things are left to be determined by the higher power.

Helen's Memorial Service today exceeded my expectations because of all of the wonderful folks that showed up at the service. And, there were some real surprises that I must give individual thanks and recognition to:

Ted and Melody Lancaster came. A complete but wonderful surprise for me. I'm not sure Karl remembered who they were.

Many people from Karl's church community were there and the church ladies brought a lot of food for everyone. I can't thank them enough especially the Church-of-Christ ladies that provided so much warmth.

My boss: Scott Holland and a special thanks to Juan and Maurice for the flower arrangement.

Thanks to: BJ for coming to the service and thanks to Susan for coming to the house reception.

Thanks to The Richards, Hyatts and Sadlers for coming to the service.

The reception at the house was very warm and rewarding to know so many people turned out for Helen's Memorial. Some old acquaintances were renewed and as well as some old friendships. The food was welcomed very much by me and enjoyed by all.

I now know that divine providence exists and a presentation of the will of divine providence was made in the fact that the Lord new we would lose Helen but rewarded Karl with an angel: Ariel. Ariel's entrance into Karl's life was no accident.

The eulogy given by Rev. Larry Edwards like the service for Helen in general exceeded my expectations and has proven once again what is possible given enough human spiritual love.

Helen and I met 35 years ago this summer. We were married for 28 years. An evil disease took her from us but she remains with us in Karl and all of her friends.

Preparing for Helen's service

Melissa has been the real trooper in preparation for Helen's burial service @ Klein on Sat. 5/1. Without Ms. M the house would not be in very good shape for the hoard of people coming to the house after the service. Karl and I will need to make a trip to the Woodland's Hubbard&Hubble.

I met with rev. Larry on Wed. and we had a good discussion about the life and times surrounding Helen's life. And, Ms M. met w/ the rev. on Thu.

I steam-mopped the floors last night and blew-off the deck. I will finish tidying the house tonight.

Klein Funeral Home

Meet with R. Reed @ Klein today. We worked a very amicable contract for Helen's burial on: Sat. May 1.

Melissa was present at the meeting and showed me and the funeral director Helen's funeral shroud. Melissa also selected the flowers. Helen's wish would for me to get Melissa a gift card from that Huddleston place in the Woodlands.

We generally got the instructions we needed for the visitation pamphlet. I will forward to Melissa when done here.
